Allie Kalik is a junior at Walter Johnson High School and a member of Washington Hebrew Congregation. When she's not at school or doing homework, she's probably doing something BBYO related, as she serves on the DC Council BBG Board. Besides BBYO, she volunteers at Montgomery County Teen Court and the KID Museum, and is active on the WJ Mock trial team. She loves spending time with her friends, family, and dog and can probably be found listening to music, eating ice cream, or dreaming about summer.
Impact L'Atid Venture: Soul Food, Nosh for the N'shama
Mentor: Andy Meyrowitz
Description: Soul Food (Nosh for the N'shama) aims to serve the hungry and homeless community in the greater DC area by providing delivering home-cooked meals on the streets, through a volunteer powered mobile soup kitchen. They believe that a meal is more than just a source of nutrition; it carries an emotional connection. By bringing meals to those in the community who need them most, Soul Food helps to spread the love of food wherever it goes. This is not only beneficial to those receiving the meals, but it also provides a memorable and powerful experience to those who volunteer to run the service, as they are spreading something they are passionate about with the entire community.
